Ethnic Celebration Series

Ethnic Celebration Series

The culturally rich, diverse population to which Schola Cantorum on Hudson (SCH) has always brought its musical efforts was the initial inspiration for the Ethnic Celebration Series. Through this series, SCH selects a nationality or culture as the focus for one of its annual concert sets.

The Ethnic Celebration Series tangibly extends SCH’s international reach as it performs historical music not otherwise in the mainstream, works of composers from around the world, and collaborates with local entities and demographics representing each. A number of world premiere and US premiere performances have taken place within the context of the series.

The New Jersey State Council on the Arts Grant Panel commended SCH on its Ethnic Celebration Series in its 2010 published award comments, saying SCH promoted “cultural diversity, particularly with programming choices.”
