Programmatic Access

Services for patrons with hearing disabilities

Assistive Listening

Assistive Listening Devices are available to any audience member making request for such service at least 2 weeks before the desired concert date. Requests may be made by calling 888-407-6002 Ext. 5 or e-mailing operations@ScholaOnHudson.org.

Closed captioning at performances

The design of our performance venues dictates, unfortunately, that no closed captioning is possible. Texts and translations are printed in the concert program.

Services for patrons with visual disabilities

Braille materials

Braille program materials, not including advertisements, are available to any audience member making request for such service at least 2 weeks before the desired concert date. Requests may be made by calling 888-407-6002 Ext. 5 or e-mailing operations@ScholaOnHudson.org.

Large-print materials

Large print program materials including translations, but not including advertisements, are available at every concert.

Accessible Website

All modern browsers allow users with visual disabilities to adjust contrast and type size. All aspects of this website are fully compatible with such browsers. All graphical elements used on the site have text-only properties for users who desire a text-only option when viewing a site.

Schola Cantorum on Hudson strives to provide equal access to all of its patrons.

Accessible Seating

All concerts feature general admission seating with no gradations of costs attributed to seating in certain areas. Seating charts indicating special seating areas for wheel chair placement, ALS, and service animal patrons are available at each concert.

Range of Ticket Prices

Tickets are all equally priced. Upon request an additional seat at no charge will be issued to any person with disabilities. Two additional seats will be set aside adjacent to the patron with disabilities at regular ticket prices. Requests must be made a minimum of 2 weeks before the desired concert. Requests may be made by calling 888-407-6002 Ext. 5 or e-mailing operations@ScholaOnHudson.org.

Discount Tickets

If requested, we will reduce ticket price by $10 for disabled persons and one companion. Requests must be made a minimum of 2 weeks before the desired concert. Requests may be made by calling 888-407-6002 Ext. 5 or e-mailing operations@ScholaOnHudson.org.

Marketing Materials, Advanced Notification, & Outreach

Schola Cantorum sends notices to the NJ Commission for the Blind and the NJ Division of Deaf and Hard of Hearing to forward to their respective constituencies regarding special accommodations for upcoming concerts.

Facility Accessibility

ADA Compliant Parking

Given 2 weeks notice for concerts at our customary venues, we will reserve a parking spot near the entrance to the building. Patrons may enter building directly from vehicle prior to the vehicle’s being parked. Schola Cantorum will utilize the Tour Rider for accessibility at other venues. Requests may be made by calling 888-407-6002 Ext. 5 or e-mailing operations@ScholaOnHudson.org.

Venue Accessibility

The Jersey City venue is completely compliant. Both Montclair, NJ, and Manhattan performance venues are accessible. Schola Cantorum will utilize the Tour Rider for accessibility at other venues.

Accessibility guides for some of our regular venues:

  • St. John’s in the Village, NYC: Ground floor sidewalk entry to performance venue and facilities available on the north side of church via Waverly place main entrance.
  • Immaculate Conception, Montclair, NJ: Elevator with wheelchair access to performance space available on the south side of the church via Fullerton Avenue. Unisex Restroom available on performance level. ADA compliant restrooms available via elevator to basement level.
ADA Compliant Signage

ADA compliant signage is posted on all entrances and bathroom facilities for all our customary venues. Schola Cantorum will utilize the Tour Rider for accessibility at other venues.

ADA Compliant Box Office

There is a disability-compliant box office table at the accessible entry for each venue.

ADA Performance and Dressing Room Space

Singers’ holding/staging area (off stage) in all our customary performance venues meets all requirements for accessibility including elevators and same-level access. Schola Cantorum will utilize the Tour Rider for accessibility at other venues.
